Jack Doherty (UK)

Chair of the CPA and recently appointed to the position of Lead Potter at the Leach Pottery in St. Ives, Cornwall, Jack Doherty is an energetic and key figure in British ceramics. Well known for his mastery of porcelain, at the Festival he will be demonstrating both thrown and slab pieces. He will use throwing ribs to stretch and shape forms and a variety of improvised tools to mark the surface; for the slab dishes he will work with heavy slabs of porcelain, drawing deeply into the clay. “I hope that these pots will have a monumental quality while still remaining functional.”
