Terry Davies will give a lecture at the 2011 festival about his kilns which have previously been made of Glass bottles, paper, Cardboard tube and old cotton sheets
Over the past 7 years, English and Italian potters Terry Davies, and Alberto Cavalini have been lighting up piazza’s all over Italy with their Large, and peculiar crazy kilns.
The lecture will offer an insight into the world of experimental kiln construction and firing, showing plans, and images on how to build, and fire several experimental kilns, designed and built by Terry Davies and Alberto Cavalini, using alterative recycled materials. To coincide with the glass bottle firing by Karin Putsch Grassi the talk will include the development and research made by Cavalini and Davies for their Chianti wine bottle kiln, a seemingly simple idea which has now been reproduced in various countries.
